Lesson Four: Week Four – Morning Cleansing Ritual
This week, we’re focusing on creating a simple morning cleansing ritual to clear negative energy and prepare your mind, body, and space for the day ahead. Cleansing is an essential part of witchcraft and daily life, helping to remove stagnant or negative energy and inviting positivity and clarity into your day.
Much like brushing your teeth or taking a shower, a morning cleansing ritual is a practice that refreshes your spirit and sets a positive tone for the hours ahead. And, just like everything else in Mundane Witchcraft, this doesn’t have to be elaborate or time-consuming.
Why Cleansing Matters
Cleansing is about more than removing negativity—it’s about creating space for growth, focus, and intention. When we cleanse ourselves and our surroundings, we align our energy with our goals and open ourselves to the opportunities each day brings.
The Ritual
My Version:
Start with Intention:
Before getting out of bed, I set my intention for cleansing. For example:“Today, I release what no longer serves me and welcome clarity and peace.”
Wash with Purpose:
During my morning shower, I visualize the water washing away negative energy. I might say:“As this water cleanses my body, it also cleanses my mind and spirit.”
“I release worry, anger, and doubt. I am refreshed and renewed.”
Use a Scent or Oil:
I choose a cleansing scent—such as rosemary, eucalyptus, or lemon—to diffuse or apply. If I use soap or shampoo, I infuse it with intention, imagining it removing anything heavy or stagnant from my aura.Final Grounding Touch:
After the shower, I stand with bare feet on the ground (inside or outside) and take a few deep breaths. I visualize myself rooted to the earth, stable and centered, ready to face the day.
Your Version:
Here’s how you can create a morning cleansing ritual that works for you:
Decide How You’ll Cleanse:
Use a morning shower or bath.
Wash your hands or face if you’re short on time.
Use smoke from sage, rosemary, or another herb to cleanse your energy.
Set an Intention:
Speak or think about what you’d like to cleanse and what you want to invite in. Keep it simple, such as:“I cleanse myself of negativity and welcome focus and peace.”
Incorporate an Element:
Water: Use water in a shower, bath, or simply splash your face.
Air: Use incense or essential oils.
Earth: Use a crystal like clear quartz or black tourmaline to cleanse your energy.
Fire: Light a candle and visualize its flame burning away negativity.
Visualize and Ground:
As you cleanse, imagine negativity dissolving or being carried away by water, smoke, or light. Once finished, take a moment to ground yourself by breathing deeply or standing barefoot on the ground.Carry the Cleansing Energy Forward:
If possible, carry a small token of cleansing energy with you—a spritz of essential oil, a crystal, or a calming affirmation written on paper. Let it remind you throughout the day of your refreshed and positive energy.
Building Your Practice
This week, make cleansing a daily ritual. Start small, incorporating it into your existing morning routine. Pay attention to how it affects your mood and energy.
Examples of Quick Cleansing Add-Ons:
Place a bowl of salt or a crystal by your door to absorb negativity.
Light a candle and say a short cleansing affirmation.
Use a cleansing herbal spray around your space.
Your Magical Week
Throughout the week, journal your experiences with your cleansing ritual. Reflect on how it impacts your energy and mindset each day. What works well? What feels like it needs adjustment?
This practice isn’t about perfection; it’s about finding what resonates with you and makes your mornings brighter, lighter, and more magical.
Remember, cleansing is a powerful act of self-care. By releasing what no longer serves you, you create room for growth, peace, and intention to flourish.
